On Tuesday around Noon, a possible gas leak was reported by TLC Daycare Center when employees began to smell something like gas.
A gas leak was discovered but it was contained before any damage could ensue.
“It could have been a potential (bad) situation,” police Chief Jerry Koester said.  “If we hadn’t gotten someone out there as soon as possible, something could have happened.”
According to the team dispatched to shut off the leak, it’s believed a piece of ice fell off of a roof or a power line and struck the valve on a gas tank, turning it on and allowing gas to escape.
The leak was reported to be just north of Edmond Road, about a half a mile or so West of Mustang Road.
The call came late Tuesday morning when TLC Daycare employees began to smell a strange odor.
TLC employees contacted the police department who arrived on the scene to investigate.
When police determined it could be a gas leak, they closed down Edmond Road between Los Sabinos restaurant and Mustang Road.
Then, TLC and the nearest few houses were evacuated for the sake of safety precautions.
Police contacted Raydon Exploration to take care of the leak, which was quelled within the hour.
Officer Tony Jobe, who manned the blockade near Los Sabinos said he was grateful there had not been a fire or explosion while he was still guarding the road.
As of press time, no one had been reported hurt, sick or injured due to the gas leak.
