Former Piedmont resident Jerry “Wimpy” Halstead pled guilty to an application to revoke his suspended sentence and has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Halstead, who was on probation after being charged in 2002 for manslaughter, was arrested last year on a DUI charge, which violated the terms of his probation.  The Canadian County District Attorney filed an application to remove the suspended sentence and place Halstead in prison.
On Dec. 15, Halstead pled guilty and his suspended sentence was revoked.
Halstead was originally charged with manslaughter after his wife died in a car accident on the way home from a casino.
According to a blood test, Halstead, who was driving, had been drinking.
He received a suspended sentence and was placed on probation as a result of an accident that claimed the life of his wife.
